(CNN) -- A decision on who is eligible to run for president in Haiti has been postponed until Friday, leaving hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean and the other presidential hopefuls in limbo, said Berto Dorce, Jean's lawyer.
Haiti's election commission was scheduled to make a decision Tuesday night.
Jean's eligibility was under question after claims that he has not lived in Haiti for five consecutive years before the election, a mandate in the nation's Constitution.
Jean's lawyer said his client meets that criteria.
"His candidacy has been contested and we went to court and proved that he is legally entitled to run for president," Dorce said. "Jean's position is pretty strong. He should be on the list."
Dorce said Jean has been paying taxes in Haiti, which makes him eligible.
"Wyclef has been a shareholder of the local TV corporation called Telemax, and was paying taxes at least for five years; this was sufficient for the Justice of the Peace to issue a certificate of residence for Mr. Wyclef and confirm his residency," Dorce said.
Video: Wyclef wants to be president
Jean announced August 5 on "Larry King Live" amid fanfare that he had filled out the paperwork to run for president.
But since then, Jean's announcement has met with some criticism.
Pras, who once performed alongside Jean and Lauryn Hill in the '90s group The Fugees, said he supported Jean's opponent.
Actor Sean Penn, who has lived in Port-au-Prince for months helping displaced Haitians, also questioned whether the Haitian-born musician could make moves to lead the devastated nation.
And now, Jean said he has received multiple death threats.
"We have been getting threats since last night telling me if I know what's good for me, I would get out [of] the country," Jean wrote in an e-mail to CNN late Tuesday.
Jean's lawyer also talked about the alleged threats.
"Wyclef has been repeatedly getting anonymous threats from people who are saying that he should think twice before running for the president. We cannot tell who are sending these threats, but the closer the announcement, the more threats Jean is getting," Dorce said.
CNN's Soledad O'Brien contributed to this report.

Asher Roth - Roth's Student Show Angers Anti-Drugs Group
Rapper ASHER ROTH has come under fire from officials at an anti-drugs group after he was booked to play a concert for students in Virginia - with campaigners accusing the star of promoting "illegal and unhealthy behaviours".
The I Love College hitmaker has been hired to perform at the Back To School gig, which is organised by a student committee at Virginia Commonwealth University for incoming freshmen.
Roth and Airplanes star B.o.B. are both reportedly earning $100,000 (£66,666) for the show.
But the choice of performers has angered Denise Miller, the president of the Regional Drug Free Alliance, who insists Roth and his support acts are bad role models for impressionable young college-goers.
She says, "Having this artist come to the campus normalises inappropriate, illegal and unhealthy behaviours. It also lowers the expectations for the students."

Mickey Factz - Paradise [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
Blending ethereal beats and nuanced delivery Battery Records' Bronx-bred MC Mickey Factz rips through his new single, "Paradise," off his upcoming release, "The Achievement."
History - Mickey Factz attended Adlai E. Stevenson High School in The Bronx, New York City; the same high school as hip hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa. After working as a paralegal, Factz began his rap career online in 2005.
For 2008's The Leak, Vol.1: The Understanding, Factz leaked one song every week on MySpace for 17 weeks. One of the songs, "I'm Sean (50 Shots More)", was written from the perspective of Sean Bell, who was killed by New York police in 2006. In a 2008 interview Factz recalled, "I had heard a few records from some New York artists, whose names I won’t mention, and I wasn’t very pleased with what they were doing. [...] I decided that I was going to get in the shoes of Sean Bell and talk about the night of him dying, him at his funeral, him seeing the press conferences and him just talking to the youth and letting them know that we have to come together and do better than what’s going on right now." Factz's song-per-week release strategy was also used for The Leak, Vol.2: The Inspiration, which contains guest appearances by Drake, Travie McCoy, and Tanya Morgan. The music video for "Rockin' N Rollin'", featuring The Cool Kids, was added to rotation at MTV.[4] Factz was named to XXL magazine's annual "Freshmen 10" issue in 2009, and he appeared in a Honda commercial later that year as a spokesman for the Accord. Factz contributed a song, "Rocker", to the soundtrack of the Fight Night Round 4 video game, and he signed to Battery Records in May 2010.

Prince Harry Goes Hip-Hop, Kanye West, Juggalos Attack Tila Tequila
After a year of scrutiny in regards to the Taylor Swift “I’m gonna let you finish” incident at last years MTV’s Video Music Awards, Kanye West has officially been confirmed to perform at this year’s awards ceremony. While Kanye publicly apologized for the interrupting Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video award speech, Taylor still says that Kanye has never personally apologized for lamenting about Beyonce not winning the award. Despite his public absence, which recently ended, MTV mentioned that West “has appeared at every VMA show since 2004, winning Best Male Video in 2005 (for 'Jesus Walks'), and Best Special Effects in 2008 ('Good Life')." MTV's Video Music Awards will take place in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m.
Reality TV personality Tila Tequila suffered cuts to her face after she was attacked by a crowd during the annual Gathering of the Juggalos organized by rap group Insane Clown Posse. Police are investigating the incident, which occurred yesterday (August 14th) in Hardin County, Illinois. According to Tila Tequila and witnesses, the rowdy crowd threw firecrackers at her, and she was pelted with beer bottles and rocks when she was on the stage. Thousands of people then chased her back to her SUV, where the crowd smashed out the windows of her SUV. Tila Tequila is planning to sue the organizers of the festival.

Foxy Brown Officially Indicted Over Court Violation
Yesterday (August 13th), the entertainer (born Inga Marchand) was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree.
Brown’s latest legal development stems from a violation of a court order of protection by Arlene Raymond.
Raymond filed the order following a heated exchange with Brown on July 30, 2007.
During the encounter, the rapper reportedly hit Raymond with her Blackberry after Raymond complained about Brown playing her car stereo too loud outside their building in Brooklyn.
In 2008, the order of protection was issued against Brown after she pleaded guilty to menacing Raymond with her cell phone.
During Brown’s hearing this week, prosecutors revealed the rhymesayer violated the order in July by screaming at Raymond in another argument.
During the confrontation, authorities say Brown bent over and exposed her buttocks at Raymond while cursing at her neighbor and showing her underwear.
Despite testifying Wednesday (August 11th) before a grand jury in her defense, Brown did not fare well in court in light of Friday’s indictment.
The rapper now faces up to one year in jail.
News of Brown’s indictment ends a week of lows for the entertainer, who’s brother, Gavin “Pretty Boy” Marchand, was arrested on August 7th for allegedly using a stolen credit card to purchase almost $8,000 worth of designer close from a store in Manhattan.
Gavin Marchand was one of a group of men apprehended by police for their role in the incident.

Rick Ross Vs. Young Jeezy Is Kinda Lame
“How you Blowin’ Money Fast?/ You don’t know the crew/ Oh, you part of the fam?/ Sh*t, I never knew.”
Sounds like a direct shot to me. But according to Jeezy, it wasn’t a diss towards anyone. As a matter of fact, he vehemently denied dissing Rick Ross was even worth his time when speaking to MTV.
“Subliminals, for what?” the Snowman added. What’s understood ain’t gotta be said. I didn’t think people would take the record like that. I did it like I would have any Shawty Lo record, any Rocko record, whoever. I got on [Ross's beat] and did it like how I do it, the best way I know how. I don’t know if because the BMF situation is for real for me that everybody is like, ‘Ooh. Oh, sh–.’ Twitter is a muthaf—a, by the way.”
The Bawse didn’t take the thinly veiled dis in stride and fired right back with “The Summas Mine.”
“You throwin’ up sets but you really from Cleveland, f*ck, boy…/ See I broke it down like a quarter key, B*tch/ I run the south, I’m who you wanna be/ The summa’s mine/ Every time you turn around they spinnin’ one of mine…/ Self-made, you just affiliated/ You’re a waterboy, really you entertainment/ I’m livin’ large, this n*ggas been a mark/ They used his credit cards just to get they rental cars.”
It’s not rocket science but perhaps these two should spend more time rapping about things they usually rap about rather than each other. Simply put, diss records aren’t either of these rappers strong points. But furthermore, why the hell are these two dissing each other?
It seems like the beef is over who keeps it more real, which is downright corny since neither rapper knows the others background like that. But I would like to say that Ross is treading on thin ice with this one.
Rick Ross questioning Young Jeezy’s credibility is like Nicky Barnes wearing a “Stop Snitchin’” t-shirt. He doesn’t really want to go there, does he? Perhaps he forgot he was outed a few years ago for being a corrections officer who said that the real Noriega owed him one hundred favors.
Maybe Jay-Z is going to have to play the peacekeeper before these two do something silly. We’ve already seen what Rick Ross does when upset. How can we forget his beat down of DJ Vlad a few years back? As for Jeezy, his crew was involved in a beef with Gucci Mane‘s crew where things went terribly wrong and an alleged Jeezy associate was shot by Gucci. This isn’t to say things here will turn ugly, rather, this is to say there really is no point in fighting over who is “realer.” How shall these two settle the score? Perhaps have a snowball fight using cocaine? A dope dealing marathon, maybe? The options are just as silly as the beef. So why don’t they dead it and spare us a corny back and forth where the loser is the listener?

Twista Documentary Coming This Fall
The currently-untitled project will be helmed by Vlad Yudin, who is also responsible for directing the 2009 documentary, 'Big Pun: The Legacy.' Yudin revealed to HipHopDX, explaining that it would cover Twista's hip-hop achievements, in addition to other quirky details, such as his induction into the 'Guinness Book of World Records.' (The Chicago rapper was listed in the 'Guinness Book of World Records' in 1992 for speaking 598 syllables in one minute.)
"Many people don't know that Twista is an extremely private person." Yudin said. "This film will explore his personal side for the first time ever." The documentary will cover facets of Twist's personal life and will feature appearances from artists like The-Dream and Ne-Yo.
Twista released his debut album 'Runnin' Off at Da Mouth' in 1992, and has released six additional albums since then. His seventh studio project 'The Perfect Storm' is currently slated for an October release.

Foxy Brown Says Firm Reunion Is Up To Nas And Cormega
The Firm are one of one. We haven't seen a collective quite like them. Back in the '90s, Nas, AZ, Foxy Brown and even Nature were able to drop endless classic material on mixtapes, be a part of the historic Puff Daddy-headlined No Way Out Tour and drop one platinum group album on Dr. Dre's Aftermath imprint.
For the past few years we've seen live hints at a reunion of the Firm. The core four, Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ and Cormega have performed together at shows in various permutations, but never all four at one time. Foxy Brown says everyone has talked about a real reunion, but differences between the Queens half of the group have to be ironed out first.
"We all sat down and conversed," she told MTV News recently. "We all know if it's not the main four, the only four, it can't be. Nas, myself, AZ and Cormega, that is the Firm. There is no other artist that can substitute for Nas, AZ, Cormega and myself. If all four of us can't do it, it can't be done."
Brown says she's still on great terms with the others.
"AZ and myself are inseparable throughout the years. He can walk in my house and go inside the refrigerator, get whatever he wants," she said. "Cormega is like my brother. You know Nas, Nas has gone his way. He got married and has gone through his own stuff. I went to prison, lost my hearing. We all just had our lives take different turns. We realized that everywhere we go, people are like, 'The Firm, the Firm.' A was like, 'We gotta do this.' That's when the rumors started."
During a recent concert in New York, Brown brought out AZ and Cormega. She says that before they all can fully reunite, Nas and Mega have to work things out.
"He and Cormega — everybody knows the legendary beef between them," she assessed. "So, [the challenge is] getting them in the same room together. Nas had a concert at Lincoln Center two Christmases ago. AZ wasn't there, but me and Cormega came out. So they can get in the same room together. And they can kind of alleviate the bullsh-- and say, 'Let's get this money now.'
We're older, let's get this money. "We started as babies," she added. "We were babies, like '96, '97, selling millions of records together. We have history together. I'm the one that's close to each one of them. I'm the link that can bring each one of them together. So it's Nas getting in the same room with Mega. And then we're good. His personal feelings with Mega, they have to work that out. Once they do that ... They have a history that AZ and I can't relate to. There's something they have to work out. I know I can get them together."

Wool's Journal of the Streets
Wool Street Journal talks with NC.State.Of.Mind about “The Hill”, Real Life Experiences, American Artistry in Italy and Evolution.Meeting Wool is like meeting humility. You get the feeling that Wool is what 50cent could have been if he wasn’t trying to out sing JaRule and paint himself upon the pop charts. Yeah the tatoo’s and the muscles are there and definitely Wool’s catalog of songs include the gangsta metaphors we associate with rap. Yet there remains the quiet intensity. Reaffirming what I always thought about him and what alot of people from VA to Naples may already know. Vernon Woolridge, 27 years old, from the East End of Richmond Virgina is the definition of Ambition. Real men do not need to brag. In fact, real men often find the bragging man distasteful. According to this poll, Woolridge grew up in the 10th most dangerous neighborhood in the United States. I guess that's why I found doing my first interview with Wool was so satisfying.
NC.State.Of.Mind: So to begin our interview, How long have you been living in Naples?
Vernon Woolridge: I been in Naples since 13 October 2008.
NC.State.Of.Mind: How long have you been pursuing music and when did you start?
Vernon Woolridge: I've been a hard core fan of hip hop since 5th grade (1994). That's when I did my first talent show at Fairfield Elementary School.
NC.State.Of.Mind: Who is your inspiration?
Vernon Woolridge: My best friend Nygel Jones aka "GoHard" has had the most major impact on my music. He motivated me and gave me the courage to chase my dream. My inspirations are my 2 kids, Zaria & Zion Woolridge.
NC.State.Of.Mind: Are the things you’ve seen growing up in Church Hill reflected in your music, and has your music evolved since your move to Europe?
Vernon Woolridge: Growing up in Church Hill made me the man that I am today. I have seen it all, and been through it all... There's nothing, no man can tell me about struggling. Church Hill has taught me the value of a dollar, because me and my family grew up poor. I sometimes feel like the chosen one, because I survived it.. Ninety percent of my music is based on real life experiences from "Da HILL". If it aint something I actually went through, it's something that i witnessed first hand. One thing about my music, EVERYTHING IS REAL... By me being disconnected from home, my musical range has evolved because im seeing things that my people back at home only dream about. By me seeing these new things and living in these new environments/cultures, I’m able to rap about different topics, which is taking me outside the box of being a typical rapper from the hood.
My musical range is unlimited. I'm in the process of working on a mix-tape with an West African/Italian based artist named "G Hot". We're trying to blend the American lifestyle with Napoli swag to see how Italians react to the merge. The project is untitled at the moment...
NC.State.Of.Mind: Do you see yourself doing the euro-crossover-dance sound of artist such as Pitbull, Usher, Flo Rida?
Vernon Woolridge: On my latest mix-tape "Confessions Of A Sinner", I experimented with the Flo Rida type crossover/dance sound on the song "Are You Coming Tonight". I made that radio friendly song with the Italian club scene in mind. I performed the track at "Kilimandjaro Disco Club" (Downtown Naples) and the Italians received it well.
NC.State.Of.Mind: The hip hop scene in Naples has its up and downs. How does that affect you the artist, trying to remain sharp?
Vernon Woolridge: Honestly, being an artist in Naples can stagnate your growth. When performing, I cant get an accurate reading/feedback, because I don't know if the Italians are really feeling the music (lyrics), or if they are just feeling the beat. As for stateside, the audience will tell you if you have a hit or not... I find myself getting lyrical analysis from Americans because I know they understand how the Hip Hop scene really is. Not saying that Italians don't, but since all of my songs are inspired by the American culture, I'm more likely to take American criticism over Italians.
NC.State.Of.Mind: So what does the American artist need to survive the Italian Hip Hop scene?
Vernon Woolridge: Instead of just feeding off their energy in the club, the american artist need to interact with the Italians in a different environment. Survey them on what can be done to make the music more relatable to them.
NC.State.Of.Mind: Tell me about your video “Whats Jumping Brah” and how I can sample some of your music.
Vernon Woolridge: "Whats Jumpin Brah" was my first official music video. It was filmed by ALASKO. I came up with the treatment myself. As previously mentioned, I have been disconnected from home. So I wanted to show them (Church Hill) that I didnt forget where i came from.
My current project is the "Confessions Of A Sinner" Mix-tape. To download my mix-tapes for FREE, go to www.datpiff.com/profile/gbfinest13. To listen to my music, view videos, and interact with me, go to www.reverbnation.com/woolstreetjournal
NC.State.Of.Mind: So are you enjoying your stay in Naples?
Vernon Woolridge: Yes, I have enjoyed my stay and experience in Naples. Being here has given the opportunity to take my brand to the next level.

Jay-Z Caps World Basketball Fest With Hit-Heavy Set
The Brooklyn rapper was the special musical guest on the bill, and he was more automatic than Stephen Curry from the baseline corner. "I only got 20 minutes, so I can't wait for you to warm up," Hov said, sauntering from side to side onstage.
Performing in front of a crowd that included LeBron James, Khloé Kardashian, and Spike Lee, the iconic MC scattered an array of classic and current hits throughout his brief set.
"Ain't no living person can test him," Jay rapped on the opening number, "Hovi Baby." "Only two resting in heaven/ Can be mentioned in the same breath as him/ Seven straight summers ... "
Jay then paused and excused himself.
"Eleven straight summers, critics might not admit it/ But nobody in rap did it quite like I did it," he finished.
"Run This Town" was next, sans Rihanna, who had her own headlining show nearby at Madison Square Garden.
Swizz Beatz joined Jay-Z for "On to the Next One" before Memphis Bleek appeared alongside him for "U Don't Know."
"I'm from the streets where the 'hood could swallow a man," Jay rapped on the latter. "Bullets'll follow a man/ There's so much coke that you could run the slalom/ And cops comb the sh-- top to bottom/ They say that we are prone to violence, but it's home sweet home."
"There's a lot of kids here, I'm trying to curb it," Jay told the crowd, before telling the kids to put on their earmuffs.
"This one isn't kid-friendly," he said, as the guitar licks from "99 Problems" blasted throughout Radio City Music Hall.
The rapper returned to his debut, Reasonable Doubt, and performed "Dead Presidents II" and "Can I Live."
The Roc Nation head then ended the night with more recent fare, The Black Album's "Public Service Announcement" and his first #1 hit, "Empire State of Mind."
